Why go bespoke?

Off the shelf elearning often just meets the basic requirements for onboarding and compliance. It’s easy to deliver and get the essentials done. But your people deserve more than just the basics. Our bespoke elearning services have been shown to bring higher learner engagement, long-term knowledge retention, and deeper understanding of role-specific content.

When developing bespoke elearning solutions, we work to:

  • Understand your learners’ journey

  • Establish measurable education / training outcomes

  • Use interactivity to promote learner engagement

  • Provide suggestions and insights into what works best online

  • Help you to measure learning effectiveness

Shaping Learning Experiences

Explore

Through in-depth discussions with you, we’ll look to understand your L&D and wider organisational goals. This will include identifying the right subject matter experts and the key milestones for your learners.

Design

Before building content, we agree on the overall strategy and goals for your courses. We’ll lay out the course topics and the learning journey, along the right mix of style and media for your organisation, learners, and available time for learning.

Create

You’re involved at every major step of the course creation process, and will review and give feedback on initial storyboards and suggested media - be that text, infographics, animations or video. We’ll create prototypes to ensure there is no mystery.

Frequently Asked Questions

Off-the-shelf elearning solutions often target specific sectors or job roles, but target a broad audience that could be at any organisation. However, such training can feel tone deaf to your learners’ context.

Bespoke elearning on the other hand is designed to meet the unique needs of your organisation and your learners. It has your branding so that your people feel at home, and every piece of content feels relevant and useful.

Bespoke content is not always necessary. If your training is for a general role for safety and compliance - such as a basic food hygiene certificate for restaurant staff - then a low-cost off the shelf course will usually suffice.

When the training is more complex and you want to drive improvements in the knowledge, skills and behaviours of your teams, then bespoke elearning can be a game-changer for performance.

We’ve created bespoke elearning for most industries across business, education, Government and the third sector.

Our learning solutions are used in Healthcare, Sport, Retail, Media, Charity, Finance, Transport & Logistics, Environment, Science & Technology - to name just a few!

We’ve been developing elearning for over 25 years and our clients love working with us. We’ve supported the likes of the NHS, Lloyds Banking Group, US Olympics & Paralympics, ITV, National Trust, and the Crown Commercial Service.

But the longevity of our business doesn’t mean we’re stuck in the past. We bring creativity, the latest tech and a diversity of approaches to our work to keep things fresh. We leverage AI to add scalability to the reach of training content where relevant, while reducing costs for our clients.

Local businesses and schools through to the biggest global brands trust us for engaging, lively elearning that helps them achieve their goals.

We're not tied to any particular authoring tool, so we can pick the right tool for each project. Our favourite format is our own bespoke FM Framework, which is ideal for fully custom, campaign-based projects. We also love using Articulate Storyline and Articulate Rise.

We also have experience using Adapt, H5P, and Elucidat. If you prefer, our team of in-house front-end developers can build directly in your LMS platform.

This is a question we get asked a lot, and as you'd expect, it really depends on what's involved.

To give you an idea, here are some estimated timeframes based on previous projects. For all new projects, we start with a design phase to establish the look and feel of the modules. We do this whether there are 1 or 100 modules. It allows us to get the right style, tone and levels of interactivity for the audience. The output from this stage not only includes the visual identity, it also includes a full 30-45 minute module. This whole stage, including project management, instructional design, visuals, development and quality control takes around 8-10 weeks.

After we've completed the design phase and produced the first module, we move into a production phase and can ramp up production. This means adding more team members to the project and producing each further 30-45-minute module takes around 4-5 weeks.

An eLearning project can be as big or as small as you like. Think about building a house; there are loads of questions: How many rooms do you want? How big do you want them? How fancy do you want them to be? It's kind of the same with eLearning: How many modules are there? How long will they be? How interactive do you want them? Do you want animation, video, or voiceover? All these things affect the cost.

To make this easier we offer bronze, silver and gold packages, depending on the levels of interactivity you'd like. To give you an idea, the majority of bespoke eLearning projects sit between £10k and £150k, but project costs will depend on the final scope of work. We generally have a minimum project size of £8k. We prefer to agree a fixed cost with agreed milestone payments. Contact us at hello@firstmedia.co.uk to see our price list and packages.
