First Media's Development of the Future Focus Website for LiNCHigher
LiNCHigher, a collaborative project and part of the national Uni Connect initiative), partnered with First Media to create the Future Focus website.
This hub is designed to consolidate all aspects of careers, education, and training for young people, parents/carers, adults, and teaching professionals. The primary aim of the Future Focus website is to provide unbiased and impartial information and support to help young people make informed decisions about their future.
The Challenge
The main objectives of the Future Focus website were to create an engaging and informative platform that caters to multiple audiences, including students, parents/carers, and teaching professionals.
The website needed to feature interactive learning resources, so we created an engaging eLearning programme and a 52-week plan, and serve as a comprehensive hub for information on higher education, apprenticeships, and careers.
What we did:
First Media approached the development of the Future Focus website with a focus on creating separate areas for different user groups, ensuring that each audience could easily find relevant information. The design was modern and user-friendly, with intuitive navigation to enhance the user experience.
The website was structured to include distinct sections for students, parents/carers, and teachers, each tailored to their specific needs and concerns. This segmentation ensured that users could quickly access the resources and information most pertinent to them.
Built using Umbraco CMS
The Future Focus website was built using Umbraco CMS, chosen for its flexibility and user-friendly interface.
Umbraco allows for easy content updates and management, enabling LiNCHigher staff to keep the information current and relevant. Its scalability means the site can grow and adapt as new features and resources are added, ensuring long-term sustainability and adaptability.

The launch of the Future Focus website successfully met the project objectives, creating a comprehensive, user-friendly hub for careers, education, and training information.
